Sea Otters

Sea otters have round heads and nostrils that are closeable. They have small eyes which are good for seeing in and out of the water and ears with flaps. Their nostrils and ears close when they go under water so no water gets in. Southern sea otters are 4 feet long, including their 1 foot long tail, northern sea otters are usually a bit longer. Males weigh about 65 pounds, where as females weigh about 45 pounds. Out of all the mammals, the sea otter has the thickest fur. Sea otters eat in a really unique way, they put their food on their stomach as if it were a table. They eat shelled fish such as clams and oysters, so they use rocks to break them open.
